Old photograph of Victorian Servants in Edinburgh, Scotland. Domestic servants worked, and often lived, within there employer's household, performing a variety of household services for an individual or a family, from providing care for children and elderly dependents to housekeeping, including cooking, cleaning and household maintenance and gardening. The life of a Victorian servant could be very hard, depending on the household in which they worked and the jobs they had to do.
