Old photograph of Victoria Bridge which spans the River Spey at Charlestown Of Aberlour located twelve miles South of Elgin, Moray, Scotland. This pedestrian suspension bridge was built by James Abernethy and Company of Aberdeen. James Abernethy was an Aberdeen civil engineer and ironfounder who worked principally on bridges. After his death on 16 October 1879 his firm became James Abernethy & Company, Engineers. The firm was carried on by James Washington Abernethy, born 1845 and David Wyllie Abernethy, born 1848.
