Old photograph of Bannachra Castle near Loch Lomond, Scotland. The lands here were once the property of the Galbraiths, but passed to the Colquhoun family who probably built the castle around 1512. In 1592, its owner Sir Humphrey Colquhoun was murdered on the orders of the MacGregors. A treacherous servant is said to have lit an open window and Colquhoun was shot by an arrow through it on his way to bed.
