Tour Scotland Self Catering Holiday Cottages Recommendations Fort Augustus
Tour Scotland self catering holiday cottage recommendation in Fort Augustus in the Highlands Of Scotland.
Bon Accord is a former lock keeper's cottage, ideally located in Fort Augustus with the Caledonian Canal to the front of the property and the River Oich to the rear. The beautiful village of Fort Augustus offers various shops, pubs and eating places, and of course the world famous Loch Ness. The spacious dining kitchen is perfect for family meals together, and a full range of equipment and crockery is provided. The kitchen also opens onto a large secluded decked patio suitable for outside dining, overlooking the garden. From the comfortable lounge you can relax with the Stovax log-burning stove and Freeview TV, or you can watch the various boats travel through the world-famous Telford Locks. A large main bedroom with King-sized bed and a pretty double bedroom offering a further two single beds. A Family bathroom with over-bath shower. A large private garden to the rear, with family-friendly lockable gates and parking for one vehicle.
Vatersay is one of three former canal worker cottages making up a pretty hamlet of holiday homes at Kytra Lock, a tranquil and secluded waterside spot just outside Fort Augustus on the Caledonian Canal. The cottages boast polished wood floors downstairs and period fireplaces. The use of traditional fabrics also adds to the delightful ambience of these lock keepers' cottages, which have been recently restored by Scottish Canals. Vatersay Cottage is positioned on the west side of the canal and provides accommodation for five. Upstairs there is a single bedroom plus a spacious twin bedroom with a delightful window seat overlooking the canal, so you can watch the world sail by. There is a further double bedroom on the ground floor, a bathroom and a compact, yet well-equipped kitchen. Also downstairs, there is a sitting/dining room with a wood-burning stove and a second sitting room, ideal for curling up with a good book or enjoying the canalside views. The cottage has a private garden area with outdoor furniture, overlooking the canal.
Tigh Na Coilltean cottage is located close to the village of Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness, this self catering holiday home cottage is an ideal base for exploring much of the highlands of Scotland. This peaceful setting at the edge of the Inchnacardoch forest is just three quarters of a mile away from the heart of Fort Augustus, where there are shops, pubs and restaurants. The Caledonian Canal runs through the centre of Fort Augustus from Loch Ness, where boats can be seen negotiating a staircase of canal locks. Other local attractions include golf, fishing, The Great Glen Way, riverside and forest walks and boat trips on Loch Ness. Just 30 miles from the Nevis range the accommodation's location is also ideal for winter sports.
Bowmore is nestled amongst the most beautiful greenery, tall majestic trees to the back of the property and a beautiful landscaped garden with large patio area making the most of the sun trap. Ideal for barbecues on those long summer Scottish evenings. The address, Abbey Gardens, gives away its history. Abbey Gardens was the vegetable patch tended by the monks when it was a working monastery. Bowmore is a stylish and comfortable holiday accommodation. Free wifi included.
Fettercairn cottage is set in its own private garden, surrounded by beautiful trees. Just a few minutes' walk away is the southern tip of Loch Ness, while the friendly, enchanting village of Fort Augustus has a good selection of bars, restaurants and convenience shops. Fettrcairn is your perfect base while you sample the many activities the Highlands of Scotland have to offer, a quality home from home. Free wifi included.
