Old photograph of houses on Ness Road in Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland. A notable feature along Ness Road is a grassy verge where a cannon sits between two benches. Recovered from an American privateer ship named The Liberty captured in 1813, this cannon was historically fired to announce the arrival of Hudson's Bay Company ships into the harbour.
