Old Photograph Divie Viaduct Scotland

Old photograph of Divie Viaduct near Forres, Moray, Scotland. Engineered for the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway, the foundation stone of Joseph Mitchell's viaduct over the River Divie was laid by Lady Elma Bruce on 20th October 1861. Lady Elma, born in 1842, died November 27, 1923, was the daughter of James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin and Elizabeth Mary Bruce, Countess of Elgin and Kincardine. She was the wife of John Hovell-Thurlow-Cumming-Bruce, 5th Baron Thurlow and mother of Charles Hovell Thurlow Cumming-Bruce, 6th Baron Thurlow. Her sisters was Lady Mary Bruce.
