Old photograph of Onich by Loch Linnhe, Scotland. In 1872, slate quarrying began on a local estate, contributing significantly to the local economy. During the Industrial Revolution, the village also became a centre for fishing and shipbuilding. This Scottish village on the east shore of Loch Linnhe, together with North Ballachulish at the entrance to Loch Leven, forms Nether Lochaber. History Blog post of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to travel and visit one day.
