Old photograph of a crofter loom weaving wool on Island Of Harris, Scotland. Introduced around 1920, the foot powered Hattersley Treadle Loom became the absolute workhorse of the islands. Weavers operate it by pumping two foot pedals, which cast a flying shuttle back and forth to weave a single width cloth
