The Lands of Burnbrae were previously held by the Blaw family until it was passed on to the Primrose family when Margaret Blaw married Archibald Primrose, who then became the first proprietor of that name to hold the lands of Burnbrae. The Primrose family held the title to the Lands of Burnbrae for over two hundred years. Archibald Primrose was the first Laird of Burnbrae He was born about 1538 in Culross, Fife, to Duncan Primrose and Helen Smyth. Archibald married Margaret Blaw about 1564 in Culross. Peter Primrose was the second known Laird of Burnbrae and uncle of the first Laird. He was born about 1512 and died in July 1584. James Primrose was the tenth and last known Laird of Burnbrae. He was born about 1746 to John Primrose and Janet Primrose. He was also known by the title "esquire". James married Jane Lawrie about 1784 and died November 1827; his wife died in April 1832. The pinnacle of rock was first climbed in 1955 by legendary mountaineer Don Whillans. The Storr itself, Scottish Gaelic: An Stòr, is a rocky hill on the Trotternish peninsula. The hill presents a steep rocky eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay, contrasting with gentler grassy slopes to the west. The Storr is a prime example of the Trotternish landslip, the longest such feature in Great Britain. The area in front of the cliffs of the Storr is known as the Sanctuary. This has a number of weirdly shaped rock pinnacles, the remnants of ancient landslips. Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt By Cliffs On Autumn History Visit To Coast Of Fair Isle Scotland

Fair Isle has two historic lighthouses, both designed by the Stevenson family and completed in 1892. One lighthouse is located at the northern tip of the island, and the other is at the southern end. Fair Isle is an island located halfway between the Shetland Islands and the Orkney Islands. It is the most remote inhabited island in the United Kingdom. The western coast consists of cliffs of up to 660 feet in height, with Ward Hill at 712 feet being the highest point of the island. On the eastern coast the almost detached headland of Sheep Rock rises to 433 feet in height. On 20 August 1588 the flagship of the Spanish Armada, El Gran Grifón, was shipwrecked in the cove of Stroms Hellier, forcing its 300 sailors to spend six weeks living with the islanders.
