Old Photograph BBC Scottish Regional Transmitter Station Falkirk Scotland
Old photograph of the BBC Scottish Regional Transmitter Station in Falkirk, Scotland. At a strength of 50 kilowatts, the Scottish Regional Programme transmitter, broadcasting on a wavelength of 376.4m was designed to radiate a signal approximately 70 to 80 miles in all directions from Falkirk, the maximum range in which a consistently reliable service could be given. The National Programme transmitter, broadcasting on a shorter wavelength of 288.5m, was expected to radiate a reliable signal at a distance of 50 to 60 miles. The latter also shared its wavelength with other National Programme transmitters across the country. Falkirk is situated in the Forth Valley, almost midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Old Photograph Beach Lochranza Island Of Arran Scotland
Old photograph boats on the beach at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran, in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. Lochranza is the most northern of Arran's villages and is located in the north western corner of the island. The village is set on the shore of Loch Ranza, a small sea loch. Ferries run from here to Claonaig on the mainland. The area around Lochranza castle is a favoured spot to observe red deer, as the village is home to a healthy red deer population and, on the northern shore, grey seals are found year round. Otters and golden eagles are also spotted in the area.
