Old photograph of Croupie Craig Falls, Raith, Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. Raith as an area once stretched from the lands of Little Raith, South of Loch Gelly, as far as Kirkcaldy and the Battle of Raith is said to have been fought here in 596 AD when an invading force of Angles landed on the Fife coast near Raith and defeated an alliance of Scots, Britons and Picts under King Áedán mac Gabráin of Dál Riata.

Old Photograph Milne's Institution Fochabers Scotland
Old photograph of the Milne's Institution in Fochabers, Moray, Scotland. Milne's Institution was originally built in accordance with Alexander Milne's Last Will and Testament, using money he left for this purpose. Alexander Milne, born 1742, died 1838, was a Scottish American entrepreneur and philanthropist and was born in Fochabers, Moray, Scotland. He was employed as a footman by the Duke of Richmond and Gordon and when ordered by the duke to powder his red hair, Milne declined, left his employment and emigrated to the American colonies. By 1776, Milne had moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where, after doing well in the hardware business, he set up a brick making company using mainly slave labour, by the late 18th century most of the brick used in New Orleans was made at his works.

Old Photograph Cabeg Hill Road To Gruinard Bay Scotland
Old photograph of Cabeg Hill on the road to Gruinard Bay twelve miles North of Poolewe in Wester Ross, Scotland. This is near Laide is a small settlement on the south side of Gruinard Bay, situated at the junction of the road which climbs up steep Cabeg Hill and the single track road to the remote crofting townships of Mellon Udrigle and Opinan, where the road ends.

Old Photograph Hall Meikleour Perthshire Scotland
Old photograph of the village hall in Meikleour, Perthshire, Scotland. Meikleour Village Hall and Institute was built and gifted to the people of Meikleour in 1931 by the late Sir James Carmichael who was born in Meikleour in 1858, the son of Robert Carmichael a shoe maker. After a happy childhood in the area, James became a carpenter and became very successful in construction work, later moving to London, England, where he established James Carmichael Contractors Ltd. His company grew to become one of London's largest and most successful building contractors and in 1919 he was awarded the KBE.

Tour Scotland Video Drive To Balcomie Golf Course Crail East Neuk Of Fife
Tour Scotland video of an afternoon drive on a partly single track road on visit to Balcomie Golf Course by Crail, East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. The Crail Golfing Society is a Scottish golf club established in February 1786 in the Golf Hotel, Crail, Fife. The society is the seventh oldest golf club in the world. Its oldest course, Balcomie, was formally laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1894, but competitions were played there since the 1850. The land upon which golf is played straddles the coast of easternmost promontory of Fife, known as Fife Ness. Balcomie has the unusual combination of three par fives, six par threes and nine par fours, producing a tough par of 69.
