Methil lies geographically between Largo bay to the east and Wemyss Bay to the west. Methil Docks were particularly significant during World War II for the movement of coal and other resources.

The Band was formed in 1972 and is based in St Andrews in the North East of Fife. It first competed in 1974 and since those early days has competed at all levels and won many contests and major championships.
