Tour Scotland Video Walking Tour Ben Lawers Mountain Highlands

Tour Scotland wee travel video of photographs of a small group walking photography tour of Ben Lawers mountain on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Highland Perthshire, Scotland. Ben Lawers, Gaelic: Beinn Labhair, is the highest mountain in the southern part of the Scottish Highlands. It lies to the north side of Loch Tay, and is the highest point of a long ridge that includes seven Munros. Prior to the 14th century, the mountain stood on the lands of Clan MacMillan. Chalmers of Lawers obtained the land by force from the clan in the mid 14th century in the reign of King David II. The land was confiscated from the Chalmers family in 1473 by King James III and given to Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy after Thomas Chalmers was implicated in the murder of King James I. The lands have mainly remained in the ownership of the Campbells of Glenorchy and Breadalbane right up to the present day.

Tour Scotland Video Walking Photography Tour Tummel Highland Perthshire

Tour Scotland wee travel video of photographs of a small group walking photography tour to the Tummel area on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Highland Perthshire, Scotland. The scenery throughout this part of the River Tummel near Pitlochry is most picturesque, culminating at the point above the eastern extremity of Loch Tummel, known as the Queen's View. Queen Victoria made the view famous in 1866, although it is probably named after Queen Isabel, wife of Robert the Bruce.

Tour Scotland Video Walking Tour Lochnagar Mountain Grampians

Tour Scotland wee travel video of photographs of a small group walking tour to Lochnagar Mountain on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to the Grampians region of the Highlands of Scotland. Technically, the English name for the mountain is a misunderstanding, being named after Lochan na Gaire, the little loch of the noisy sound, a loch to be found in the mountain's north east corrie. Today the lochan is popularly called Lochnagar too. The summit itself may be referred to as Cac Càrn Beag, meaning " small cairn of faeces " in Scottish Gaelic. Beinn Chìochan, mountain of breasts, is an alternative Gaelic name.
