Old Photograph Royal Yacht Victoria Albert Dundee Scotland
Old photograph of HMY Victoria and Albert, a royal yacht of the Royal Navy, in Dundee, Scotland. The yacht was designed by the Chief Constructor of the Royal Navy Sir William White, launched in 1899 and ready for service in 1901. King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra visited their new yacht in early August 1901, and used it for the first time when crossing the English Channel 9 August 1901 to attend the funeral in Germany of the King's sister, Empress Frederick. King Edward later used the yacht for summer cruises most years of his reign, visiting various countries in Europe. Victoria and Albert later served King George V, King Edward VIII and King George VI, and took part in two fleet reviews. She served as a depot ship during the Second World War, as an accommodation ship to HMS Excellent, and was broken up in 1954.

Old Photograph Fore Street Port Glasgow Scotland
Old photograph of shops and buildings on Fore Street in Port Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland. The grid pattern of the streets in the town centre was laid out in 1694 and took advantage of the flat area of raised beach. The grid pattern remains largely intact today, consisting of Princes Street, King Street, Bay Street, Fore Street, John Wood Street, Church Street and Scarlow Street.

Old Photograph Frederick Crescent Port Ellen Islay Scotland
Old photograph of houses and cottages on Frederick Crescent in Port Ellen, Island Of Islay, Scotland. Port Ellen is built around Leodamais Bay, Islay's main deep water harbour. It is the largest town on Islay, only slightly larger than Bowmore and provides the main ferry connection between Islay and the mainland, at Kennacraig. The Port Ellen Whisky Distillery was first established in the 1820s and ceased production of Scotch whisky in 1983.

Old Photograph Ramsay Hall Port Ellen Islay Scotland
Old photograph of Ramsay Hall in Port Ellen, Island Of Islay, Scotland. Ramsay Hall was built by and named after a family who, in the 19th century, owned the estates in the southern part of Islay.
