Old photograph of Kirkton, Burntisland, Fife, Scotland. The Kirkton area included The Grange Whisky Distillery which started as a brewery in 1767. Six years later, the brewery was converted to a distillery and for almost all its 130 years of operation, it was linked to the Young family of Grange and Colinswell. The distillery was rebuilt in 1806 and in 1813 was licensed to William Young and Co. Distilling at Grange was closed down for the duration of World War I. Production resumed after the war, but ceased totally around 1927.

Old photograph of Glen Mama near Arisaig, Lochaber, Scotland. Prince Charles Edward Stuart landed on the shores of Loch nan Uamh on 19 August 1745 and made his way to Loch Sheil. The photograph was taken before the Fort William to Mallaig railway line was built between 1897 and 1901, as the Loch nan Uamh railway viaduct now closes the mouth of this glen.

Old photograph of Barncluith Gardens in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The lands of Barncluith were held by the Machan family, of Norman origin. In 1507 Anne Machan married William Hamilton of Rossmoor, kinsman of the Duke of Hamilton. Their son fought and died at the Battle of Langside in 1568, and Barncluith was subsequently inherited by their grandson John Hamilton. Another John Hamilton of Barncluith was Sheriff of the Lower Ward of Lanarkshire from shortly after 1707. He is said to have held his court within the pavilion in the terrace garden, and to have carried out executions at a nearby oak tree. Ownership of Barncluith passed from the Hamiltons to the Ruthven family in the 19th century. At this time the gardens at Barncluith were renowned as an example of an old Scots garden, and were popular with visitors to the area. It was bought in 1908 by lawyer James C. Bishop, who restored the gardens.

Old photograph of the beach at Morar, a small village on the west coast, situated three miles south of Mallaig, Scotland. Morar Beach served as a location in the 1983 film Local Hero. It was also used in filming Highlander in 1986, as the location for the scene in which Ramirez and Connor race along the beach. In the 1995 movie, Rob Roy Morar was used as the location for one of Rob Roy's homes. The Battle of Morar was a Scottish clan battle fought in 1602, between the Clan MacDonald of Glengarry and the Clan Mackenzie.
