Sandcastle Cottage. Near Roome Bay beach, a fantastic rocky cove with children's play area, this cosy cottage offers easy access to the Fife Coastal Path. A large enclosed back garden with patio provides a secure area for children to play and for the whole family to relax. Owned by Sandy and Susan since 1992, the cottage has been gradually upgraded over the years and has a VisitScotland 4-star self-catering grading, renewed annually. Decorated in a relaxed 'seaside' style, the cottage has lovely touches which make it a perfect hideaway all year round. We offer short breaks all year except July & August with rentals starting on a Friday or a Monday for 3 or 4 night short breaks at other times. This is a lovely base for parents visiting children at St Andrews University or for those just wishing to escape city living for a while.

Beautifully presented 3 bedroom house with integral garage and sea views over the roof tops, located in a popular and attractive residential development within the picturesque coastal village of Crail. This property provides comfortable accommodation for 6 persons with a master ensuite, double and twin room (can be made into a double bed if required). A travel cot can be provided on request.
Twenty-One Shoregate is an 18th century cottage located a stone’s throw from the picturesque harbour in Crail. It is cosy and stylishly decorated, with a secluded elevated cottage garden overlooking the rooftops below and on to the sea and the Isle of May, perfect for sea and star gazing. There are sea views from the master bedroom; leave your bedroom windows ajar and wake to to the sound of waves lapping the shore below. The cottage sleeps up to 4 people. The master bedroom has a super king-sized bed. The second bedroom has two full-sized twin beds. The twin beds convert to a second super king-sized bed, request this ahead. The bedrooms are upstairs beside the bathroom which has a bath and shower. Downstairs there is a living room with a gas-fired stove and an open plan dining area and well-equipped kitchen.
Garden Cottage makes a perfect setting for a relaxing holiday with family and friends. Spacious, modern and luxurious, it has three bedrooms and comfortably sleeps eight. The beach, shops and pubs are but a short stroll away and there's private off street parking for two cars right outside the front door. There is central heating throughout, high speed wireless internet access and those with young children will find a travel cot and high chair in the cupboard at the top of the stairs. Linens and towels are provided as is an iron and ironing board in case something special was crushed on your journey.
Casa Gisella is a traditional house dating from 1700's, situated at 1 Westgate North, Crail. Living room, large comfortable kitchen-dining room and three double bedrooms. Modern 4 piece family bathroom. There is a small private garden at the rear of house which includes an additional WC and handbasin. There is a play frame and sandpit for children and table and chairs. The house is situated in the picturesque conservation area of Crail and is well positioned to benefit from all local amenities. It is 200 metres from the historic harbour, which is one of the most visited in Scotland. It is close to the local shops, post office, cafes, hotel and museum. There are numerous Golf Courses in the area, and the town is only 15 minutes drive from St Andrews. There are many nice beaches within close reach, where water sports are available. Locally there is the annual Crail Food Festival.

Tour Scotland self catering holiday cottage recommendations on the Isle of Skye, Inner Hebrides, Scotland.
Willowbank is a stunning self-catering holiday cottage located right on the beach in Broadford Bay, on the Isle of Skye. It offers luxury accommodation for up to 8 people plus a travel cot. There are two double bedrooms and a twin in the main house (sleeping six) and an additional double bedroom in the adjoining bothy. The house has fabulous sea views and a well-kept garden with direct shore access, and is within walking distance of a variety of shops and restaurants. Both house and bothy have been recently renovated to a high standard, with full air-source central heating, wi-fi, etc., but retaining a cosy atmosphere and traditional features such as a log-burning stove and a heated drying shed for outdoor kit. The garden is a gem with a large patio for barbecues, a lawn running right down to the beach, fantastic views over Broadford.
Waterside Cottage, Harrapool, Broadford, is situated right on the shore, in a large garden, Waterside Cottage is a detached former crofting cottage dating from around 1850, with bags of character and charm. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with views out onto the sea. Decorated with a mixture of contemporary furniture and antiques with each item chosen with care, the result is a cosy cottage designed to make you feel at home. The lounge/diner has a wood burning stove , piano with lots of music for you to borrow, TV with freeview and DVD player. In the conservatory you'll find lots of books and games to keep you entertained in case of bad weather and wellies you can borrow to head onto the shore. From the well-equipped kitchen you can watch the birds and look out to the sea beyond.
Hillside is situated within our 3.5 acre croft, in the township of Roskhill 4 Km outside the village of Dunvegan. Come and get away from it all and relax in comfort and style in our newly built self catering cottage on the Isle of Skye. The area provides a wealth of activities for the outdoor enthusiast, photographer, cyclists or for those wanting to simply chill. Spectacular scenery all around with the Cuilllin mountain range, magical sunsets and unpolluted starry skies all viewable from the croft. Dunvegan offers the visitor a wide variety of things to do with centuries of history and beautiful wildlife on the doorstep. Look out for Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles and Buzzards soaring the sky above the house. Local shops, pubs and restaurants are only 4Km away.
Brae Fasach Self Catering Accommodation on the Waternish Peninsula, Isle of Skye with amazing views west to the islands and Outer Hebrides. Perfect for wildlife and bird lovers, photography and art. Close to stunning coastal walks and cycle rides and wildlife cruises. The sunsets and skies are incredible - Waternish Peninsula has been desinated as a DarkSky location with three points all very close by. Allt Mor is on the north west coast of the Isle of Skye and is a small romantic, Grade B Listed, traditional Highland crofting cottage. Although over 200 years old, the cottage has been sensitively modernised, combining all the charm of these beautiful old buildings with the comfort of a modern home.
Cruard Cottage. The cottage is in Sleat on the Isle of Skye, commonly known as The Garden of Skye. It is right by the shore of Camus Cross Bay beside the picturesque village of Isle Ornsay. This, a crofting village of whitewashed cottages, once was a busy harbour for fishing boats. It has views overlooking a beautiful lighthouse. The local Hotel Eilean Iarmain has good food and a welcoming bar often with live music and Ceilidhs. The Misty Isle of Skye has the most spectacular scenery. It is dominated by the magnificent Cuillin Range which can be seen from many points of the island, each offering another breathtaking view.

Moorfield, Rodel, Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides. This fantastic holiday accommodation is attached to our home yet completely private and separate giving you the best of both worlds. We're on hand for advice and assistance about getting the best from your stay in The Outer Hebrides and we'll even bake a fresh loaf for you and look after your dog if you want to charter a boat to the outlying islands. However, we can also leave you completely alone for privacy and a totally uninterrupted holiday. The cottage overlooks the pre-reformation church of St Clements in Rodel, formerly the ferry port to Harris from Skye. The sea the cottage overlooks is the same stretch where Flora McDonald rowed Bonnie Prince Charlie 'over the sea to Skye'. We're situated at the south end of Harris just minutes from Leverburgh ferry terminal with regular crossings to Berneray and North Uist.
Tigh a' Chreagain is a spacious traditionally built 4 bedroom cottage situated in a beautiful rural location on the east coast of the Isle of Harris in the Western Isles. It is a 15 minute drive from the ferry port at Tarbert and a 20 minute drive to Leverburgh where you can take a boat trip to the uninhabited island of St Kilda. It is a very central base to explore the rugged coastlines of the east and the spectacular sandy beaches of the west coast of Harris.
Tigh Na Mara, Main House offers spacious, well equipped and tastefully decorated self-catering accommodation on the secluded shore of Carragreich Bay. All reception rooms and bedrooms have stunning sea views over to the isle of Scotsay. The house sleeps 5 to 7 adults or a family and consists of a 1 double room with a king size bed, 1 twin room and a single bedroom (2 camp beds and a cot are available on request.) The living room has a coal fire, TV, DVD, games and books. There is a large kitchen/diner with wood burning stove, range cooker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and fridge freezer. In addition to the bathroom upstairs there is also a downstairs toilet. The house is heated by storage heaters.
Red House. Standing alone remote yet close to Tarbert on the rugged and beautiful coastline of the bays of Harris. The Red House (or Tigh Dearg), recently renovated from a traditional stone cottage and now a perfect getaway for two. The only access is by a 100 metre stony pathway. Spectacular views across the sea to North Harris and the Isles of Scalpay and Scotsay. Closer by, watch the local seal population as they bask on the rocks below the house. The cottage is ideally located for walkers and cyclists, surrounded by scenery and central to Harris, as well as the whole of the Western Isles. The isolated situation together with the ambiance, we have created, with many hand crafted fixtures and fittings and artistic touches, make it ideal for a romantic break or honeymoon.A warm welcome awaits you here at Red House. Seaview Cottage, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. Comfortable and cosy cottage by the seaside in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal and the town centre and an ideal base for exploring the beautiful islands of Lewis and Harris with their golden sandy beaches, lochs, hills and wildlife. Visit the Standing Stones at Callanish, the Broch at Dun Carloway, Rodel Church. the Arnol Blackhouse, Lews Castle & grounds and the blackhouses at Garenin. These are just some of the places you will love to visit. The kitchen is well equipped and basic larder provided as well as a welcome pack on arrival. Letting is for 7 day period.
Stoneyfield South Cottage. This recently refurbished 3 bedroom self catering cottage is situated on a working farm, it is a quiet location just 2 km from Stornoway Town Centre. Stoneyfield South cottage is the perfect location for a family holiday or a romantic break for couples. The property has stunning views of Stornoway harbour and the Lews Castle Grounds. It is less than 5 minutes from both the ferry terminal and Stornoway airport. There are beautiful coastal walks on the farm with breathtaking scenery. It is close to several beaches and is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday or to take advantage of the many outdoor pursuits available on Lewis and Harris.The cottage has 1 kingsize ensuite bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms which can be doubles if required.
Taigh Alex is a recently refurbished house in a quiet residential area a short walk from Stornoway Town centre. The house makes an ideal base whether for tourists or for visiting professionals with modern facilities and a superb location. Proximity to the hospital makes it an ideal basis for expectant mums and dad and family while mum attends Stornoway's maternity ward. The house features a large double bedroom, and two twin rooms all with excellent storage. The double room has a small toilet / handbasin en-suite. Accommodation also includes living room, well equipped kitchen and bathroom with bath and electric shower. There is a good sized South-facing private garden and on street parking.
Benshaw Cottage was a crofter's home which was modernised in early-2014 with good quality kitchen and bathroom facilities as well as new carpets, decor, fine bedwear and furniture. It is now a cosy and inviting self-catering holiday cottage in Tobson on Great Bernera on the west of the Isle of Lewis. Whether you are an avid photographer, aurora watcher, trout and salmon fisherman, a sea angler or walker or are just a nature lover, Benshaw Cottage is ideal as a base. Lochs and rivers in the Western Isles, also known as the Outer Hebrides, are known for their fishing and the clear, unpolluted air and skies make it very special.

Tour Scotland video of old photographs of Ballater, Royal Deeside, Scotland. I hope these might be of interest to folks with Scottish ancestry. There have been Highland Games held in Ballater since 1864. Balmoral Castle, the British Royal Family's holiday home is located close Ballater and the family has visited the town frequently since the time of Queen Victoria. Ballater railway station was closed in 1966. Ballater is a centre for tourism in Royal Deeside.
