Old photograph of the Burgh Hall in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, Scotland. Pollokshaws Burgh Hall, which opened in 1898, was provided for the people of Pollokshaws by Sir John Stirling Maxwell, who contributed towards its upkeep until the burgh was annexed by Glasgow in 1912. The hall was designed in the Scots Baronial style by noted Edinburgh architect, Robert Rowand Anderson, who also carried out alterations and additions to both Eastwood Parish Church and Pollok House around the same time.

Old Photograph Shaw Brig Pollokshaws Glasgow Scotland

Old photograph of people on Shaw Brig in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, Scotland. Pollokshaws was originally a village predominantly dedicated to weaving in the 17th century. A group of Flemish weavers were brought to the area in the 19th century by the landowners, the Maxwells of Pollok, on account of their exceptional weaving skills. Pollokshaws was a burgh of Renfrewshire until 1912 when it was annexed to the City of Glasgow.

Tour Scotland Autumn Video Elcho Castle South Bank Of River Tay Perthshire



Tour Scotland Autumn video of Elcho Castle just South of Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. This Scottish castle, located on the South Bank of the River Tay, consists of a Z-plan tower house, with fragments of a surrounding wall with corner towers. The Castle was built on the site of an older structure about 1560, and is one of the best surviving examples of its date in Scotland. A large portion of the Castle is accessible, although floors in some rooms have fallen, and much of the building can be walked through. Elcho Castle was built in the latter half of the 16th century for the Wemyss family.
