Old photograph of a Crofter gathering bracken in the Great Glen, Highlands, Scotland. Bracken can be found in all parts of Scotland, including the mainland, the Highlands, Hebridean Isles and Orkney and Shetland. It has been recorded growing high in the Cairngorms, and occurs in a wide variety of habitats. In the past bracken was harvested and had a variety of uses including bedding for livestock and in thatching cottages.

Old Photograph Baker Cruden Bay Scotland

Old photograph of Frank Simmers a Baker in Cruden Bay located 26 miles North of Aberdeen, Scotland. Cruden Bay is said to have been the site of a battle in which the Scots under King Malcolm II defeated the Danes in 1012. Traditionally, the name was derived from the Gaelic Croch Dain, Slaughter of Danes.

Old photograph of road workers outside Kinross, Perthshire, Scotland. Loch Leven Castle by Kinross, is one of the best examples of a fourteenth century keep remaining in Scotland. It stands on an island in Lochleven, and its most famous resident was is undoubtedly the imprisoned of Mary Queen of Scots.

This terminal station of the Bankfoot branch. from Strathord, of the former Caledonian Railway was opened by the Bankfoot Light Railway on 7 May 1906. It was closed to regular passenger traffic by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway on 13 April 1931.
