Tour Scotland Video Summer Solstice Longest Day Scotland
Tour Scotland video of sunset on summer solstice, the longest day on visit to a Pictish Standing Stone in Perthshire and over Edinburgh, Scotland. Old Photograph Ravens Rock Strathpeffer Scotland
Old photograph of Raven's Rock located to the North of Strathpeffer, Scotland. Raven's Rock marks one of the highest summits on the railway line from Dingwall to Kyle of Lochalsh. When the Dingwall and Skye line opened in 1870, it initially bypassed Strathpeffer because of disagreements with local landowners and was forced to run further North over Raven's Rock. It originally stopped at an inconvenient station one and a half miles from Strathpeffer; this station was renamed Auchterneed when the branch line to Strathpeffer opened in 1885. Near the rock, to the left of the railway, is the chalybeate spring called the Saint's Well, from which the chalybeate water of Strathpeffer Spa was obtained and conveyed to the Pump Room in the village.
