Old Photograph Farmer Ploughing With Horses Hamilton Scotland

Old photograph of a farmer ploughing with horses on a farm near Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Horses were first domesticated in Central Asia around 2,000 BC. Julius Caesar invaded the south of Britain in 55 BC with several units of cavalry and was met by British tribes with horsemen of their own. Ploughing, on the other hand, was first done with teams of oxen in Iron Age and Roman Britain.
