Old photograph of Melsetter House overlooking the bay of Longhope, Orkney Islands, Scotland. Melsetter was originally the home of the Moodie family who owned much of this area from the late 1500’s until around 1820; the Moodie burial place is in the Longhope Cemetery. The current house was built, incorporating an earlier property, in the late 1890’s by the famous Arts & Crafts architect William Richard Lethaby; the garden is reputed to be one of the oldest in Orkney. Old Photograph Kilhenzie Castle Scotland
Old photograph of golfers by Kilhenzie Castle near Maybole in South Ayrshire, Scotland. Kilhenzie Castle is a typical example of a small late 16th century tower, with a 17th century additions. Prior to the mid 17th century Kilhenzie was owned by a branch of the Baird family, but thereafter passed to a Kennedy family.
