Old Photograph Railway Viaduct Castlecary Scotland

Old photograph of the railway viaduct in Castlecary near Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. There was previously a Castlecary railway station but it is now closed. This was the site of a rail accident on 10 December 1937, when two trains collided with one another. The accident cost the lives of 35 people, with a further 179 injured. Castlecary also lends its name to a viaduct which crosses the A80. These are commonly known as the " Castlecary Arches ". Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day.

Old Photograph Pier Kinlochleven Scotland

Old photograph of the pier in Kinlochleven in the Highlands of Scotland. The village of Kinlochleven was developed in the early 1900s when the then North British Aluminium Company harnessed two of the Highlands natural assets, water and hills, to create the Blackwater Reservoir, a hydro-electric plant and the Kinlochleven Aluminium Smelter. The smelter finally closed in June 2000.

Old Photograph Twynholm Scotland

Old photograph of shops, delivery van, people, houses and cottages in Twynholm located near Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Twynholm was also a parish from medieval times until 1975, including the neighbouring parish of Kirkchrist from 1654. Former Formula One racing driver David Coulthard is from Twynholm.
