Old Photographs Railway Station Polton Scotland

Old photograph of the railway station in Polton, Edinburgh, Scotland. This Scottish station opened on 15 April 1867. After closing to passengers in 1951 the station remained open for goods traffic, finally closing from 18 May 1964.

Old Photograph Mary's Well Tobermory Scotland


Old photograph of children at Mary's Well by Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Scotland. Tobermory derives its name from the gaelic Tobar Mhoire meaning the well of Mary. Mary's Well and Mary's Chapel dated back to the Medieval period, the water from the well was said to possess medicinal properties.

Old Photograph Inganess Bay Orkney Islands Scotland

Old photograph of the cliffs at Inganess Bay near Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands, Scotland. During World War II, Inganess Bay was part of the defenses for Scapa Flow. Anti tank defenses, barbed wire, and an anti aircraft gun camp were established along the shore.
