Tour Scotland January Winter video of the Stormont Mausoleum which stands on Moot Hill on ancestry visit to Scone Palace by Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. This is said to be the aisle of the old parish church, which is believed to have been built about 1624, and was remodelled in 1807. Within the Mausoleum, there is a fine baroque memorial to David Murray, 1st Viscount Scone who died in 1631. From 1st November to 31st March Enjoy Free access to the grounds every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10.00 am to 4.00pm.

Old Photograph Cottage Sma Glen Perthshire Scotland

Old photograph of a cottage and horse and cart in The Sma Glen near Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland. This was one of the traditional drove roads along which Highland cattle could be moved on the hoof. It linked Highland and Lowland Scotland. Its present name is a modern one for originally it was known as An Caol Ghleann, The Narrow Glen. Bonnie Prince Charlie marched through the glen on his way to the infamous massacre at Cullode in 1746. In the 18th century General Wade built a military road through the glen. Malcolm III of Scotland also marched through the glen to recover his kingdom from the usurper Macbeth. The Romans even built a fort and watchtower at Fendoch.

Old Photograph Victoria Bridge Caputh Perthshire Scotland

Old photograph of the Victoria Bridge over the River Tay by Caputh, Perthshire, Scotland. Built in 1899 by engineers Sir William Arrol and Company this 3 span, iron girder truss bridge has a total length of 419 feet and was built using trusses from the first Tay Bridge. The bridge carries the B9099 public road over the River Tay, which here forms the boundary between the parishes of Caputh and Little Dunkeld.
