Tour Scotland Video The Wind On Loch Fyne Scottish Country Dance Perth Perthshire
Tour Scotland video of The Wind On Loch Fyne Scottish Country Dance at the food market on ancestry visit to Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. The Dunedin Dancers are a wonderful Scottish Dancing group from Edinburgh. Loch Fyne is a sea loch on the west coast of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It extends 40 miles inland from the Sound of Bute, making it the longest of the sea lochs. Loch Fyne has a reputation for its oyster fishery, and as a consequence the loch has given its name to the locally owned Loch Fyne Oysters and to the associated Loch Fyne Restaurants. It is also notable for its herring fishing industry, and hence the famous Loch Fyne Kipper, originally caught using the drift net method. In the mid 19th century, Loch Fyne was the centre of the battle between the traditional drift net fishermen and the new trawl net fishermen who sprang up around Tarbert and Campbeltown in 1833.

The Dunedin Dancers are a wonderful Scottish Dancing group from Edinburgh. The Gay Gordons is a popular dance at a ceilidh and other kind of informal and social dancing event. It is an old time dance, of a type very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in which every couple dances the same steps, usually in a circle.
Dance Description
Right hands joined over lady's shoulder, man's arm behind her back, and left hands joined in front, walk forward for four steps, starting on the right foot.
Still moving in the same direction, and without letting go, pivot on the spot, so left hand is behind lady and right hand is in front, and take four steps backwards.
Repeat in the opposite direction.
Drop left hands, raise right hands above lady's head. Lady pivots on the spot. The man may set.
Joining hands in ballroom hold, polka round the space

Old Photographs Queen Victoria School Dunblane Scotland
Old photograph of Queen Victoria School in Dunblane, Scotland. This Scottish school was originally proposed to Queen Victoria as a memorial to the Scottish dead of the Boer Wars, and after her death it was thought fit to name it in her memory. With the support of former politician Robert Cranston, money was raised from Scottish servicemen and the people of Scotland to complete the project. Queen Victoria School was opened on 28 September 1908 by King Edward VII. It is an independent boarding school for children of Scottish servicemen aged 10 to 18.
