Old photograph of Minto located between Hawick and Jedburgh, Scotland. Tour Scottish Borders. This Scottish village is north of the River Teviot, in the Scottish Borders. The church was designed by William Playfair and dates from 1830.

Old Photograph Church Fordyce Scotland

Old photograph of the old church in Fordyce in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The earliest recorded reference to this Scottish church is in a charter dated 1272, in the time of Alexander III, when a vicar is appointed to the church of Fordyce. A further early charter dated 1351 confirms Fordyce as a common church belonging to the Cathedral of Aberdeen.

Old Photograph Donald Cameron of Locheil Memorial Scotland

Old photograph of the Donald Cameron of Locheil memorial in Fort William, Scotland. This statue was erected to the memory of Donald Cameron of Locheil, the 24th Chief of Clan Cameron. He succeeded his father as Clan Chief in 1858. He was an MP and Lord Lieutenant of Inverness-shire for many years before he died on 30th November 1905. Cameron was the eldest son of Donald Cameron, 23rd Lochiel, and succeeded his father as chief in 1858. He was employed in the diplomatic service and was first attache for the Earl of Elgin's special embassy to China. He was then at the British Embassy in Berlin. He was a Justice of the Peace for Buckinghamshire and a Deputy Lieutenant for Inverness. At the 1868 general election Cameron was elected Member of Parliament for Inverness-shire. He held the seat until 1885. He was groom in waiting to Queen Victoria from 1874 to 1880. From 1887 he was the Lord Lieutenant of Inverness-shire. Cameron married Margaret Montagu-Douglas-Scott, daughter of Walter Montagu-Douglas-Scott, 5th Duke of Buccleuch in 1875. They had four sons, including Donald Cameron, 25th Lochiel.

World War 1 Roll of Honour Includes

Private John Eadie, served in the 6th Battalion of the Black Watch Royal Highlanders. He died on 28 October 1915 in France at the age of 22 and is buried in St Stephen cemetery.

Private Michael Manning served in the 6th Battalion of the Black Watch Royal Highlanders. He died on 13 August 1915 in France at the age of 19 and is buried in Corbie Communal Cemetery. He was the son of Cornelius and Annie Manning, OF Stinnoull Place, Auchterarder.
