Old photograph of women sitting outside a thatched cottage in Perthshire, Scotland. Using thatch for roofing goes back as far as the Bronze Age in Britain. Scottish cottages were historically the homes of farm workers and labourers. From around the 18th century onwards, the development of industry led to the development of weavers cottages and miners' cottages.

Old Photograph Arthur's Seat Scotland
Old photograph of Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh, Scotland. Arthur's Seat is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill rises above the city to a height of 823 feet, provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is quite easy to climb, and is a popular walk, and picnic spot.

Old Photograph Loch Of Harray Scotland
Old photograph of a trout fishing boat in Loch Of Harray, Orkney Islands, Scotland. The loch is located immediately to the north of the Loch of Stenness and is close to the World Heritage neolithic sites of the Stones of Stenness and Ring of Brodgar. In Old Norse its name was HeraĆ°vatn. The loch was surveyed on 21 August 1903 by Sir John Murray and later charted as part of the Bathymetrical Survey of Fresh Water Lochs of Scotland in 1897.

Old Photograph Golf Course Dunblane Scotland
Old photograph of the golf course, Dunblane, Scotland. Golf Scotland. Until 1922 golf was played on a small nine hole course adjoining the River Allan on what is now the Laighills Public Park. The original course was laid out by a Mr. Philp who owned the Hydropathic Hotel which had been built in 1878. Mr. Philp leased the ground from the Honourable Captain Drummond of Cromlix for £24 per annum and bore all the expense of laying out the course.
