Old Photograph Glasgow Road Clydebank Scotland


Old photograph of shops, buildings and people on Glasgow Road, Clydebank, Scotland. Before 1870, the area which later became Clydebank was largely rural, and agricultural. It consisted of some villages, Hardgate, Faifley, Duntocher, Dalmuir, Old Kilpatrick, farms and estates, with some small scale mining operations, coal, limestone and whinstone, several cotton mills and some small boat building yards

Old Photograph Sheep Shearing Wester Ross Scotland


Old photograph of shepherds sheep shearing in Wester Ross, North West Highlands, Scotland. Until the late 19th century, all shearing was done with spring tined hand shears. Some traditionalists still use this method today, as it is quieter and leaves a layer of wool to protect sheep from the harsh Scottish climate.
