Old photograph of shepherds sheep shearing in Wester Ross, North West Highlands, Scotland. Until the late 19th century, all shearing was done with spring tined hand shears. Some traditionalists still use this method today, as it is quieter and leaves a layer of wool to protect sheep from the harsh Scottish climate.
