Tour Scotland photograph of Innerpeffray Library, near Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland. Innerpeffray Library was the first lending library in Scotland. It is located in the hamlet of Innerpeffray, by the River Earn, three miles southeast of Crieff. The library was founded by David Drummond, 3rd Lord Madertie before 1680, when he made four hundred of his family books available to the public. The library was originally located in the loft of St Mary's Chapel, and moved into a purpose-built library house in 1762. This was built by Robert Hay Drummond, Archbishop of York, and a descendent of Lord Madertie, who also donated his book collection on his death. The library ceased lending in 1968, but remains open to the public several days a week, except over the winter months.

Tour Scotland travel video of the interior of Innerpeffray Chapel on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip near Crieff, Perthshire. A chapel of St Mary is mentioned here in 1365 and 1483 and in 1506 four chaplainries were endowed here by John, Lord Drummond. It appears to have been a chantry which acquired a collegiate form. By 1542 it is called a collegiate church. The existing church is doubtless 16th century and is still entire although now only used for its cemetery.

Tour Scotland photograph of Sheriffmuir Battlefield, Scotland. The Battle of Sheriffmuir took place on November 13th 1715. The night before the Jacobite army under the Earl of Mar camped at Kinbuck while the Government forces commanded by the Duke of Argyll were on the heights above Kippendavie, the high ground of Sheriffmuir intervening between the armies. The battle was indecisive; left wings of both armies suffered defeat, the Jacobites being driven as far as the River Allan and Argyll's left wing driven almost to Stirling.
