Old Photograph Melrose Scotland

Old photograph of cars, shops and buildings in Melrose, Borders, Scotland. Historically in Roxburghshire. Melrose is the location of Melrose Abbey, re-founded for the Cistercian order by David I in the early 12th century, one of the most beautiful monastic ruins in Great Britain. It is the site of the burial of the heart of Scottish king Robert the Bruce.

Old Photograph Alloway Scotland

Old photograph of a horse and cart, people, cottages and houses in Alloway, Ayrshire, Scotland. Alloway is a former Scottish village that is now a suburb of Ayr. It is best known as the birthplace of Robert Burns and the setting for his poem Tam o' Shanter. Tobias Bachope, the mason responsible for the construction of Hopetoun House, Craigiehall, and Kinross House, also hailed from Alloway.

Old Photograph Cumnock Scotland

Old photograph of shops, people and market cross in Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. Cumnock housed many Scottish miners, and also served as the market town for the other, smaller towns in the district, like Auchinleck, Ochiltree, Lugar, Muirkirk and New Cumnock.
