Tour Scotland photograph of a 17th Century gravestone in graveyard cemetery in Clackmannan, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. The name of the town refers to the Stone of Mannan, a pre-Christian monument that can be seen in the town square beside the Tollbooth Tower, which dates from 1592.

Tour Scotland Photograph Weavers Gravestone Clackmannan


Tour Scotland photograph of a weavers gravestone in the graveyard cemetery in Clackmannan, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. During the 12th century, the area formed part of the lands controlled by the abbots of Cambuskenneth Abbey. Later it became associated with the Bruce family. Clackmannanshire became known for the weaving mills powered by the Hillfoots burns. Other industries included brewing, glass manufacture, mining and ship building.
