Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt By Galdenoch Castle On History Visit To Rhins of Galloway Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn travel video of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and Sporran and walking by trees and Galdenoch Castle on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to Rhins of Galloway, Britain, United Kingdom. Gilbert Agnew began construction of the tower house. Gilbert was the younger son of Sir Andrew Agnew, the Baron of Lochnaw, who died fighting the English at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh in 1547. While his older brother inherited the primary family seat at nearby Lochnaw Castle, Gilbert established his own estate here. Gilbert died in 1570 passing the estate to his son, Uchtred. Uchtred attempted to invest in local salt pans, but unpaid rents left the family facing mounting debts. The financial issues worsened in 1635 under Uchtred's son, Patrick. As an active Covenanter, a Scottish Presbyterian movement, Patrick is hit with a crippling £1,000 fine by the Crown, pushing the family toward bankruptcy. Unable to escape the debt, Patrick's son, also named Patrick, sold the tower house back to the primary branch of the family, Sir James Agnew of Lochnaw.
