Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt By Lochar Tower On History Visit To Dumfries and Galloway Scotland

Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn travel video of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and Sporran and walking by trees and Lochar Tower on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to Dumfries and Galloway, Britain, United Kingdom. Lochar Tower, also widely known as Isle Tower or Bankend Tower, is a ruined 16th century fortified tower house. The tower house was built around 1565 on a small plot of land that was historically isolated by the meanders of the Lochar Water, effectively creating a natural island defense. It was held by William Maxwell, a member of the prominent local Maxwell clan. During the Anglo Scottish border raids, the English military commander Lord Scrope attacked and burned the tower in 1570. Decades later, William's successor, Edward Maxwell of Isle, extensively reconstructed the building. The castle appears to have been left empty shortly after the death of Robert Maxwell, the 2nd Earl of Nithsdale, in 1667.
