Tour Scotland short 4K Autumn travel video of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and Sporran and walking by trees and Little Dalton Kirk on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to Dumfries and Galloway, Britain, United Kingdom. The original church was constructed in the 12th or 13th century. The current roofless ruins primarily date back to a significant reconstruction in the 15th century, with minor stabilization added during the Victorian era. The kirk originally served a small, rural crofting community known as the village of Little Dalton. Over the generations, the local population gradually moved away from the settlement. Though the church was abandoned in 1633, the enclosed graveyard surrounding it remained an active burial ground for more than 150 years, with the last recorded burial occurring in 1788. The site formed part of the Holmains Estate and served as the historic burial ground for the Carruthers of Holmains family, who were prominent local landowners and vassals to the Lord of Annandale. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome. Meteorological Autumn or Fall is different from standard and astronomical Autumn and begins September 1 and ends November 30
