Tour Scotland very short 4K early Autumn travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and sporran and walking by the Standing Stones of Torhouse on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to Dumfries and Galloway, Britain, United Kingdom. The stone circle was constructed roughly 4,000 years ago, placing its origin between the late Neolithic period and the early Bronze Age, circa 2000 to 1500 BCE. Unlike many other ancient rings across the British Isles that suffered damage or stone theft over the millennia for field dykes and building materials, Torhouse has survived remarkably intact. It served as an important regional ceremonial or religious hub. According to regional myth, King Galdus or Gauldus, was a legendary heroic Scottish monarch who fought off Roman invaders during the first century CE. The myth states that he was buried beneath three stones, while the stone rows to the east and south represent the graves of his top generals. Local tradition even falsely credited Galdus as the namesake for the region of Galloway. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome. Meteorological Autumn or Fall is different from standard and astronomical Autumn and begins September 1 and ends November 30
