Scotsman Walking Wearing Kilt By A Mansion House On Summer History Visit To East Lothian Scotland

Tour Scotland very short 4K Summer travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and sporran and walking by a mansion house on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip to East Lothian, Britain, United Kingdom. The original house here was one of the last projects undertaken by Robert Adam before his death in 1792. The house, designed for the 7th Earl of Wemyss, was not actually completed until 1800, some 8 years after Adam's death. The 8th Earl wasted no time in knocking down Adam's wings, but the 10th Earl had them rebuilt. Before it came into the possession of the 7th Earl of Wemyss in 1781 or 1784 the property was held by the Murrays, Douglases, Sinclairs from 1458, by the Achesons from 1561, then by the Auchmutys from 1622 and then by the Wedderburn family in 1659 upon being purchased by Sir Peter Wedderburn. Several film productions have used the site, including the 2000 film House of Mirth, directed by Terence Davies and based on the novel by Edith Wharton, and the second and third season of Outlander, the Starz! Network television series based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon. The house also appeared in the ghost film The Awakening, starring Rebecca Hall. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
