Fetlar also experienced significant population decline due to land clearances for sheep farming in the 19th century. In the 1800s, Sir Arthur Nicolson cleared many townships here. By 1858 he had cleared 30 townships across large parts of the island and by 1891 the population had shrunk to 363. and it has steadily declined ever since, Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. #scotland #shetland #shortsvideo #scotsman #kilt @tourscotland #beach
