Tour Scotland 4K short Winter travel video clip of a Solo Piper playing bagpipes music on Hogmanay visit and trip to Edinburgh, Britain, United Kingdom. The Great Highland bagpipe, Scottish Gaelic: a' phìob mhòr, meaning " the great pipe " is a type of bagpipe native to Scotland. It has acquired widespread recognition through its usage in the British military and in pipe bands throughout the world. There are many ancient legends and stories about bagpipes which were passed down through minstrels and oral tradition, whose origins are now lost. However evidence for Scottish bagpipes is more definite in 1396, when records of the Battle of the North Inch in Perth, Perthshire, mentions warpipes being carried into battle. Hogmanay is the Scots word for the last day of the year in this case New Year's Eve, December 31st. By the meteorological calendar, the first day of Winter is always 1st December in Scotland; ending on 28th of February.
