Tour Scotland short 4K travel video clip, with Scottish music, Sea Horses carved on a Pictish Standing Stone on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit and trip to Aberlemno in Angus, Britain, United Kingdom. The sea horse appears in many Pictish stone carvings in Scotland. The symbolism of the carving, also known as Pictish Beast or Kelpie, is unknown. Although similar but not identical to Roman sea horse images, it is unclear whether this depiction originates from images brought over by the Romans, or had a place in earlier Pictish mythology. Around the world, numerous stories of water and sea horses have been told. Sliepner, the gray horse of Odin, was said to have eight legs and could travel on land or sea. Pegasus, the winged horse that sprang from Medusa after her death, was also a water horse. Fountains sprang from the touch of Pegasus' hooves, such as Hippocrene and Aganippe on Mount Helicon. Finally, Pegasus was placed in the sky as a constellation. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
