The Mallard, anas platyrhynchos, is the most familiar and widespread species of dabbling duck bird in Europe, including Britain and Ireland. The female has mottled brown plumage. Mallards are sociable ducks. The Mallard's adaptability to different types of environments has allowed them to spread to towns and cities. Some in parks and lakes can become very tame, especially if they are regularly fed by humans. I like to provide food which is great for attracting a wide variety of birds to the garden. Dates for Spring in the United Kingdom depends on whether you are following the astronomical or metrological calendar. The date for astronomical spring is Sunday 20th March 2022, ending on Tuesday 21st June, while by the meteorological calendar, spring will start on Tuesday 1st March. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings.
