Winter Road Trip Drive With Music To Orwell Parish Church On Visit To Mlnathort Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K Winter travel video, with Scottish music, of a sunny and very cold, road trip drive on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Orwell Parish Church and graveyard in Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Below freezing temperatures and sunny weather today. The existing church was constructed on Ba’Hill in 1729, on land acquired from Tillywhally, using stone from the Old Kirk of Orwell, which was situated on the North banks of Loch Leven, approximately 1 mile south east of Milnathort. The new location better served the needs of the local population who had moved closer to the stage coach routes. The original thatched roof of the building was modernised and raised, and the windows, floor, seating and galleries added in the period between 1769 and 1780. The present church combines the remainder of three local congregations; The Old Kirk, The Secession Church begun in 1773, and the Free Church of 1843. The graveyard consists of a walled enclosure surrounding the Church. It contains a number of interesting gravestones, some of which date back to the period of construction of the church. There is an adjoining extension, more modern, located to the East of the graveyard, another walled enclosure, accessed by a separate gate. This is still in use, although nearly full to capacity. Weather forecast today was for temperatures to remain below freezing but will be mostly dry with some snow and ice and widespread hard overnight frosts where skies are clear.
