MacEwen, who died on the 23rd of March, 1960. Also in memory of his mother Sybil M. MacEwen, who died on the 14th of December, 1976. The Scottish surname MacEwen derives from the Old Gaelic Mac Eoghainn, meaning 'the son of Eoghann'. The name is found today in both Scotland and Northern Ireland. The earliest attested use is by a Malcolm MacEwen, who witnessed a charter in 1174. Clan MacEwen or Clan MacEwan is a Highland Scottish clan recorded in the fifteenth century as Clan Ewen of Otter.
