This Scottish church was built around 1200 AD and was linked to Inchaffray Priory. Local landowners the Rollo family paid for extensive alterations after the reformation. The village of Dunning was burned in 1716 by the Jacobite army but the Church survived. Altered several times over the years the Church has a fine original Romanesque tower and clock. The surname Rollo was first found in Perthshire, Gaelic: Siorrachd Pheairt, former county in the present day Council Area of Perth and Kinross, located in central Scotland. Rollo, born 846, died 932, baptised Robert, was a Viking who became the first ruler of Normandy, a region of France. Spelling variations of this family name include: Rollo, Rollock and others. Notable amongst the Clan from early times was John Rollo, 1st of Duncrub who died in 1390; Duncan Rollo, 2nd of Duncrub who died in 1419; Andrew Rollo, 3rd of Duncrub who died in 1481; Robert Rollo who died in 1471, William Rollo, 4th of Duncrub who died in 1513; Andrew Rollo, 7th of Duncrub who died in 1565. Matthew Rollo, was a Scottish convict who was convicted in Perth, Scotland for 7 years, then transported aboard the ship Eden on 12th March 1842, arriving in Tasmania; James Rollo, born 1832, when aged 25, he was a British labourer who travelled from Gravesend aboard the ship Glentanner arriving in Lyttelton, Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand on 3rd October 1857; David Rollo was a British settler who travelled from London, England, aboard the ship John Scott arriving in Auckland, New Zealand on 7th March 1858; Donald Rollo arrived in New York State, America, in 1820.
