Tour Scotland 4K short travel video clip of a car ferry on past visit and trip to Kyleakin, Isle Of Skye, Inner Hebrides. The ferry was a vital lifeline between Kyle of Lochalsh on the Scottish mainland and Kyleakin, Scottish Gaelic: Caol Àcain, on the east coast of Skye. From 1841 to 16 October 1995 a ferry service operated from Kyleakin to the mainland across the narrow strait of Loch Alsh, until it was replaced by the controversial Skye Bridge. After centuries of bonnie boats speeding over the sea to Skye, in 1995 a new bridge was built between the island and the mainland halting boats like this one that had been serving the island community for almost 400 years. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome.
