Dreich Autumn Road Trip Drive With Music To Visit V&A In Dundee Tayside Scotland

Tour Scotland Autumn travel video, with Scottish music, of a dreich, which is a Scots word for dull and cloudy, road trip drive from North Fife over the Tay Road Bridge across the Firth of Tay on ancestry, genealogy, history visit to the V&A Design Museum on Riverside Drive in Dundee, Tayside. Opened on 15th September 2018, V&A Dundee is an international centre for design for Scotland, the first ever design museum to be built in the UK outside London, England. The V&A Dundee is housed in a world class building at the heart of Dundee's Waterfront. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate Scotland's design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent, and encourage design innovation for the future. V&A Dundee is temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Firth of Tay, Scottish Gaelic: Linne Tatha, is a firth in Scotland between the council areas of Fife, Perth and Kinross, the City of Dundee and Angus, into which Scotland's largest river in terms of flow, the River Tay empties. The firth has a maximum width of three miles at Invergowrie. The Tay Road bridge which spans the Firth of Tay from Newport on Tay in Fife to Dundee was designed by William Fairhurst and construction began in March 1963 with the infilling of West Graving Dock, King William Dock and Earl Grey docks in Dundee. The construction was undertaken by Duncan Logan Construction Ltd. Controversially, construction required the demolition of Dundee's Royal Arch where Queen Victoria had entered the city on a royal visit. Rubble from the Victoria arch was used as foundations for the on-ramp. The Riverside Drive is a main arterial road and cuts off the city from its riverside. When driving in Scotland, slow down and enjoy the trip. All photographs are copyright of Sandy Stevenson, Tour Scotland, and may not be used without permission.
