Tour Scotland travel video clip, with Scottish music, of the lighthouse on Waternish Point on visit to Vaternish Peninsula, Isle of Skye, Inner Hebrides. Waternish or Vaternish, Scottish Gaelic: Bhàtairnis, is a peninsula approximately seven miles long situated between Loch Dunvegan and Loch Snizort in the northwest of the island, and traditionally inhabited and owned by Clan MacLeod. The history of the peninsula is a long, and often bloody, one involving clan feuds, massacres, de-population during the Highland Clearances.Vaternish Lighthouse was built on Waternish Point in 1924. The engineers were David and Charles Stevenson. The present tower was built in 1980, by engineer John Smith. It is accessible on foot from the road at Trumpan.
