Lighthouse On Visit To Eilean Musdile Islet South West Of Lismore Inner Hebrides Scotland

Tour Scotland travel video clip, with Scottish music, of the lighthouse on visit to Eilean Musdile an islet located to the South West of Lismore in the Inner Hebrides. The small island lies in the entrance to Loch Linnhe. The lighthouse was built by Robert Stevenson in 1833 and initially showed a fixed white light. In 1910 most of the Northern Lighthouse Board's lights were changed to dioptric or Fresnel lenses but Lismore and Fidra, in the Firth of Forth, were left as the only remaining purely catoptric lights in the service. Three of the sons of Robert Stevenson became engineers: David, Alan, and Thomas. Robert's other children included Joseph, who immigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1832, and Jane, who assisted in writing and illustrating an account of the Bell Rock Lighthouse construction. Robert Louis Stevenson was his grandson, via Thomas, and Katharine de Mattos was his granddaughter.
