Loch Sloy On Visit To The Highlands Of Scotland

Tour Scotland travel video clip, with Scottish music, of Loch Sloy on a visit to the western slopes of Ben Vorlich mountain in the Highlands. It is is a hydro electric reservoir as well as a loch. When built in 1951, the dam wall was the longest in Scotland. Served by streams from Ben Vorlich and to the south Ben Vane, the reservoir has a tunnel aqueduct that leads to a power station on the western side of Loch Lomond at Inveruglas. The Inveruglas Water also empties from this reservoir. The reservoir has provided a safeguard population for powan, Coregonus clupeoides, a fish whose natural population is confined to Loch Lomond and Loch Eck.
