Tour Scotland Winter Solstice 4K travel video of outdoor Christmas lights, on the Monday before Christmas, on visit to a house in Scone by Perth, Perthshire. Christmas lights, also known informally as fairy lights, are lights used for decoration in preparation for Christmas and for display throughout Christmastide. The custom goes back to the use of candles to decorate the Christmas tree in Christian homes in early modern Germany. The first known electrically illuminated Christmas tree was the creation of Edward H. Johnson, an associate of inventor Thomas Edison, on December 22, 1882 at his home on Fifth Avenue in New York City, USA. Winter solstice, or hibernal solstice, is an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
